  1. First off I wanted to thank you for a great program, this has saved me countless hours needlessly converting files when I can repack in seconds.
I mainly watch my stuff on the xbox 360 and your program works great . I am not 100% sure but I think the xbox can only support hard subs so it would take an encode to force them on screen. Also even though the xbox codec compatibility site says the xbox can only do 5.1 in avi and wmv, it can do 5.1 in m4v but only as ac3 not aac. Just make sure that the ac3 is the last audio in the file. Now I have a question, I'm trying to rip some dvd's. I use makemkv to rip them to my desktop and then your program to re encode them to m4v. When done the m4v will have its audio go out of sync. It almost appears as if the video is going to fast. I've tried changing the frame rate but with no success. The original mkv is in sync so its something along the way that's making it out of sync. Any ideas? Also I'm trying to work on some music videos and when I enter tags in your program none of it gets saved to the file, all other media types seem to work but once I change it to music video the tags wont stay. Thanks for your time and a exceptional program.

Fixed bugs that cause a program crash.
First I like to thank you for that great Software. I'm so happy that I have found this App, it makes my integration of Videos into the Apple-World a lot easier
I have one Feature suggestion and I hope you could implement it in your Software.
Would it be possible to have an Option to choose the language of the ratings which should be displayed, so that we don't have to scroll the whole ratings list in the Tag-Editor when trying to set the rating. Even better would be a "Ratings-Mapping".
So if the "moviedb" or the "tvdb" sites fetches the internation or US-Rating that that an corresponding rating from the mapped country will be set automatically. One would have to do the mapping manually in the options, but when its set up it would work automatically.

What also would be great if there would be an option in the Setup to link the "Artist Field" with the Name Filed (for Movies) or the Show Field (for TV Shows). I give you an example what I mean, cause it is a little difficult for me to explain
    For Movies:
The Metadata fetcher gets Info for the Movie "Die Makse des Zorro" (German title for the Movie "The Mask of Zorro"), then the Name Field will be filled with "Die Maske des Zorro" and the Artist Field will be filled with "the Mask of Zorro".
With the above Option the Artist Field would also be filled with "Die Maske des Zorro".

    For TV SHows:
The Metadata fetcher gets Info for the TV Show "Fringe", then the Name Field will be filled with "Fringe" and the Artist Field will be filled empty. With the above Option the Artist Field would also be filled with "Fringe".

What also would be great if you could add the "Titlename for sorting"-Field. Cause when proceeding a Series of Movies (for exaple all James Bond Movies) thean it would be great to be able to sort them already. Now I proceess such series of Movies and later on fill in the Sorting Name in iTunes which again take some time for every Movie.

That would make the Software perfect for me. It would really be great if you could do that

I would also like to contribute something to this software. I could translate all the strings into german and serbian language.
Just send me the strings, I'll send them backl as soon as possible. I will also look at the string length, so my< translations will have the same meaning, but I'll also look that the length is almost the same, so you don't have to rearrange the GUI.

Waiting for your replay and I hope it will be a positive answer for my feature requests

Thanks again for that great Software.

    Regards
    Vlaves

Until I have not found how to get the ratings from other countries. API returns the U.S. rating. I can make an option in the settings in which the rating will not be filled.

    For Movies:
The Metadata fetcher gets Info for the Movie "Die Makse des Zorro" (German title for the Movie "The Mask of Zorro"), then the Name Field will be filled with "Die Maske des Zorro" and the Artist Field will be filled with "the Mask of Zorro".

In the Artist fill the original title of the film in its original language. It is not that correct?

The Metadata fetcher gets Info for the TV Show "Fringe", then the Name Field will be filled with "Fringe" and the Artist Field will be filled empty. With the above Option the Artist Field would also be filled with "Fringe".

What need to fill in a fields SortName and SortAlbum from themoviedb and thetvdb? Or you just need to open these fields to fill, not only for the tv shows?

That would be great. I can give the link in a personal message on the files for translation.
westen123 started doing translation into German, but has not yet made.

sadly I was not able to say it right. I mean: If I manually go into the Tag-Editor. There is a rating drop-down-element. In that drop-down-element there are many ratings from many countries. If there would be an option to choose in the settings my country from that list of countries in that drop-down-element. --> >So in setup I would set ratings to German. The drop-down-element would only have the german ratings in the list. That is what I ment for the first step. Later those german ratings could be "mapped" manually in the setup by the user, so when tvdb or moviedb returns an US rating the mapped german rating from the users manually set mapping is fiiled.

I hope that was alittle bit clearer

Really I don't know for shure. Other Tools on the Mac (iFlicks, iVI) or on Windows like MetaX do it that way, so I thought that was the right way. All my movies are tagged this way. So an option would be great

Thanks for changig this I'm already translating into german (50% done)
Regarding the mapping, it is not needed in the first step, maybe later if you have time.
But a setup option to choose which ratings should be displayed in the drop-down-element would be great

    Eduardo420,
Maybe this is due to the transformation of interlaced to progressive. Try the program Handbrake.

  12. Oreons, this is a great app - thank you!

For some reason I am unable to select and "Save" any artwork when using the metadaat search. I can see the artwork that has been found but the "Save" button is greyed out.

Any idea why that would be?

    TIA

    Hi again,

    I'm having a problem again.
Im trying to 'convert' Iron Man 1.
I've tried multiple .MKVs, but every time, the sounds stops after 1.40 minutes.
I get this error: ''Audio 1 error. Does not match time source (02:06:01.696) and result (00:01:45.215) files.''
When the converting is 'done', theres a yellow triangle with a '!' in it. (When i hold my mouse on it, it says the same error as above)
I always use the same setup, and other movies never gave a problem.
Already tried, disabling AC3 track, or disable the DTS track. Both ways gave the same problem

    Thanks in advance!

    MrBenj,

    psvpas,
This problem occurs when the video is PAL, and the audio is taken from the movie NTSC or vice versa. When building mkv stretch flag was used and after repacking get out of sync. Unfortunately I have not found a solution to this problem.

  17. I just tried your excellent tool. Thanks for making it. I had started converting with VLC and then looked at the codecs used in the mkv file and realized that the video did not need transcoding, so I looked around and found your utility.

One thing I did notice is that it seems to use only one CPU out of the 4 in my computer. I wonder if you could use more CPUs and speed things up?

Also, why not put this app in places like download.com where you might get more people finding it?

    Thanks again!

    J81CHAT,
-is there any way to save the logs automatically?
Logs are stored in the directory Logs.
-what does sox do & when should i use it?
Sox used for DRC (dynamic range compression) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression
More information about the Sox can be read here http://sox.sourceforge.net/

Utilities mkvextract and others use a single processor, you can try to find their multiprocessor version and rewrite it in a folder Tools.

    I'll think about it.

Just wanted to say thanks to the developer of this program. BY FAR the best MKV to MP4 convertor I have ever used. Currently converting my entire 400+ MKV 720p movie collection to iPad friendly MP4 (oh, the majesty of watching them on the retina display during my commutes).

Out of 50-60 movies converted so far, I have only had an issue with one (converts but H264 video wont let me search through movie when in MP4 container; movie will freeze at the point searched to. Prob an issue with the original video encode, although it works fine in MKV container...hmmm).

The tag search alone is priceless; Easy to add movie info, descriptions, artwork, covers, etc. Everyone who watches a movie on my iPad now asks if I downloaded them from iTunes (whistles, looks around innocently and ignores the question).

    Anyway, thank you.

  21. Hello again!

I am currently having a problem when trying to convert some files. First was this one:
    Code:
Error: Could not write to the output file: 1784 (The supplied user buffer is not valid for the requested operation.)
    MkvExtract terminated with error: 2
    Total time: 14 sec.
    I also got this one:
    Code:
Error: Track 1: NAL too big
    MkvExtract terminated with error: 2
The files appear to play fine in MPC-HC. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Trance56k,
    Write the program log.

    Disgustipated,
    First was this one:
Not enough space on the disk.

    I also got this one:
    Error in the mkv file.

There was 170 GB free on the disk, but just to be sure I moved the whole MkvToMp4 folder to a different disk with 525 GB free, and I'm still getting the same error.

    I also got this one:
    Error in the mkv file.
That's what I figured for this one.

Thanks for the help and the great program!

Hi, it is a great software, but it has for me a major bug. If I change the audio language in the Czech, everything is fine, but the result still shows me the audio is in English. I look into the log and find that wrong wrote ISO code for the Czech. Properly be ISO code (ces - cs) and not cze.

  25. oreons,

have you found that the sox compression creates a weird effect with downmixing DTS? I've done several movies with DTS that have been downmixed from 5.1 to 2. The sound gets a little too quiet and creates a weird cut off effect. The background gets way too quiet cutting out all background sounds (ambiant noise, background music, etc).

    Any ideas?

First of all, thanks for making this awesome program!

Sometimes it takes a really long time to write the tags to the file, I was wondering if you could take a look at my log and give me any clues to speed up that step? Could it be because that the file is being written to a network location?

Also, when I clicked on the paypal link in the app it took me to a Paypal in Russian, anyway to have it go to site in English?

    carmat06,
Yes, you can try to save to a local folder. Recording tags may demand full file overwrite, so the time can be longer. And turn off mp4 optimization (checkbox), it is not necessary for repacking.

Also, when I clicked on the paypal link in the app it took me to a Paypal in Russian, anyway to have it go to site in English?
    Fixed link

  29. First of all, thank you for this very usefull app, it has been a great help.
I have one issue that i like to share with you guys, when i convert a MKV 1280x720 16:9 the program finish without any message, but when i play it on itunes, the video freezes some times for about 3 or 4 seconds, the sound still goes on, this happens randomly during the movie.

With MKV 1280x694 the movie plays without any freezes.

Do i have to reencode the video ?

I think this happens only with the x720 and 16:9 aspect ratio
