  1. Has anyone tried running this in Linux yet? My only need is that sometimes my parents ask me to put their home videos onto their iPad, which of course doesn't play .mkv files.

  2. OP (or someone) can you please explain to me more what the SoX arguments are in the first page? I am wanting to watch a movie at a reasonable TV volume where I can still hear the quieter sounds without having to turn up the volume, and the loud sounds not blow out my speakers.

I am running SoX in CLI (Win32) and looking for a "better' config than what Im using now
    (sox --show-progress audio.wav audio-sox.wav compand 0.3,1 6:-70,-60,-20 -5 -90 0.2)

I dont know how to configure the compand settings, I dont understand audio at that level.

It also looked like some normalization was being used in conjunction with compand.

I am curious as to, will the settings in the image shown, "work for me"?

    Thank you kindly,
    Andrew

Have you first tried to "Normalize" the audio. In most cases I think that does the trick just fine. Anyway, i'm assuming you mean the ....

    "compand 0.0,1 6:-70,-43,-20 -6 -90 0.1 gain -n -0.1 treble +0.1"

Long explanation, in short, invest in reading this, it may help. sox.sourceforge.net/sox.html

  4. Thank you Dakon, I will try norm and compand and see which one appears to suit my needs the best. You have been very helpful. I will read further on sox.

    Hi,

Does someone has a solution to use the same subtitle size for all videos?

    Problem:

I don't mean changing the subtitles with built in iOS 7, because there will still be the same difference (aspect ratio).

Have this problem on iPhone iPad and Apple TV.

I had this program on my computer previously but I had to replace the hard drive. Now it is telling me CoreAudioToolbox not installed. I have researched other sites that say to install Quicktime but that solution has not worked. Any idea how to fix that error? I loved this program when I could use it before.

In the directory you extracted the files, go to \Tools\qaac\qtfiles, check for the CoreAudioToolbox.dll first off.

    EX: C:\Program Files\MkvtoMp4\Tools\qaac\qtfiles

First thing I would check if you haven't already. It could possibly just be a bad download.

Thanks dakon. I have no idea how only the x64 extracted and not the other folders but I extracted them again and this time it's there. Feel really stupid for not noticing that soooner. Everything is back to working beautifully. Thanks again!

Same, stopped working for me after newest iTunes version.

I'm still able get them manually from here...

    http://bendodson.com/code/itunes-artwork-finder/index.html

Best workaround for the time being I found.

I wonder if they always need to fix there software every major iTunes/Server update
@ oreons you should add the ability to use the cached iTunes artworks. They are still in the folders, MKVToMp4 just doesnt use them unless iTunes search works.

    Oreons,

Perhaps a stupid question, but is it possible to script your tool to perform tasks without me having to instruct anything else than which file(s) to include? I know that I can use command-line utilities, but since I am no super-wizard on computers, I rather use your "Close your Eyes and shoot"-tool because so far (having used it since day 3 (or similar) have never failed to produce what I want. I can live without the tag-line info and onboard that later on but I would like to put a batch-file together that after download automatically unpacks the file to a specific directory and then triggers your tool to process it and then put the finished file to Another directory where it will be automatically put into Itunes database. I know the first and the last part, but not how to get your tool automized. Is it possible?

Mkvtomp4 is portable, but some programs use codecs installed in the system, for example eac3to. Also for the temporary directory to use the USB flash drive is not desirable.

is it currently an mkv? and your trying to repack it as an mp4? I only ask because converting and repacking are two seperate things (easily mistaken by many people). Maybe a dumb question, but just wanted to clarify.

  28. yes i try to repack.. i dont want to covnert..

im not sure if i do it write but.. i get a lot out of sync

  29. the other problem is that my original video has 19 minutes but repack playes 120 .. i mean it plates only 19 but show like 120... and after 19 gives an error
