  4. First of all, I've been using the app for a while and it is great!! But I would like to report a bug.

Sometimes, I'm running on some trouble when converting videos with subtitles. In some cases, a fatal error happens and the app closes.

I've tried to manually convert some of these videos, and the conversion completed correctly. So I belive that the videos are OK.

I'm using the 0.224 x64 version of the app.

You can try to convert this video to reproduce the bug:
    http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/9251201/How.I.Met.Your.Mother.S09E11.Bedtime.Stories.10...p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.

    Oreons, congratulations for the app!

    Thank you!

Without details, I did do a few tests.

    Video: no change
Audio: downmix to AAC 2.0 normalized
Subtitle: no change, added as soft sub fine

resulting file played fine, with soft subs if needed as planned.

    2nd run...

video: Superfast preset (High 4.1 @ QVBR 20.0)
audio: downmix to AAC 2.0 normalized
subs: no change, added soft sub fine

Everything went fine with both encodes. I use 0.224 (x64) also, not sure what settings you are going with, but it went fine for me.

  7. Here are the settings that I'm using:

    Video: no change
    Audio: downmix to AAC 2.0 normalized + AC3 pass-through
    Subtitle: no change

Sorry I didn't post the details before...

If I try the the AC3 passthrogh I get an App fault, regardless of the encoding parameters. Same source as Bruno, or any source with an AC3 track. Won't let me pass it through. Anyway, that's gonna be one for oreons, sorry I couldn't help.

    P.S. - oreons,

Faulting module is Qt5Core.dll if that helps.

  9. I though it had something to do with the subtitles because if I disable then, the conversion works perfectly...

  10. Hello!
I have just started using your app and it works great! thanks for all your hard work and effort. I have a couple of feature requests:
1- option to delete original file after extract complete
2- option to choose default source for certain tags, for example, "Poster art" from themoviedb, since they have bigger, better quality jpegs.
3- option to also look for chapter info in the http://chapterdb.org/ so that you also have chapter info added to the mp4 file.
4 - in search, if a movie or file name has a year in parentheses then ignore everything in parentheses and after. Apparently if it includes a year it will not find it.
5- "Send to" option for when it is finished. Then one could pick and exe. that way one could choose itunes or metax, etc.
6- ability to execute file after it has finished processing to test it out, and make sure it's right.
7- ability to delete file, edit output settings, and process again if file was not right, eliminating the need to re-add the file and output settings if necessary to re-process file
8- ability to preview a sample to see if settings are right? (i'm asking for too much, aren't I? yes...yes i am.)
That's it for now, i think..
    Thanks!

  11. Is anyone else experiencing clipping on DTS audio? I've encoded a few movies recently and the audio seems to distort during explosions. Or am I doing something wrong?
    Quote Quote
  12. I would really appreciate it if anyone can answer this question or assist me with it. Here I go:
My question here is on audio and video "Timecodes." I use a program called MKVToolNix or Mkvmerge to experiment on swapping audios tracks; however, I have to delay the newly-swapped audio track to match the video. Therefore, to avoid the pain-staking delaying of the track, I was wondering if there was a way to copy the previous track timecodes profile to the newly-swapped audio track. Basically, I want to synchronize the new audio with the video. I would appreciate the advice from anyone knowledgeable.

I've experienced this in the past with several different movies with DTS. I'll have to go back to the source files and use the current version of MkvToMp4 to see if I still experience this bug.

Oreons recommends using the Arcsoft DTS decoder. I wonder if that might fix the problem?

What player are you using to watch the movie (enable/disable subtitles). The log shows the creation of the subtitle track. Reason I ask is that MKVtoMp4 does not hardcode subs, they are softcoded (enable/disable). So the player needs to be capable. Quite a few players still don't support subtitle tracks in an MP4.

    Howdy,

I searched through the posts, but probably easier just to ask. Used Make MKV to rip DVD to MKV file, with all the stock settings. Then ran the MKV file through MKVtoMP4 and the video converted nicely, but the audio is out of synch. Just used all the stock settings although my version didn't have the quicktime option to check off. Any ideas? Don't even know what to post in support of this, but I'll include a couple screen captures. Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Max

Are you trying to play the video through Apple devices? If so, then this appears to be a problem on Apple's end... I've tried remuxing MKVs using both MKVToMP4 and XMedia Recode, but all the resultant files have audio that plays slightly ahead of the video when playing the movie through my iPad or iPhone. The files are fine in other players, such as Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic.

The only way I managed to get the audio & video in sync for Apple devices was to re-encode the entire video file. Sadly, this defeats the whole purpose of being able to quickly remux into another container for Apple users. At least there are other workarounds like nPlayer (non-jailbroken) or RushPlayer+ (jailbroken); both of which can play MKV files using hardware acceleration (the latter also offering DTS playback).

    Cheers,
    Visor

I finally have some time to do some testing today. I'm going to go back to an older version and see if it still happens. I made sure that I did have the Acrsoft DTS decoder (and looking through the logs, it is being used). So it may be just a glitch in the newest version.

I had the same problem two years ago with the MSD files until I found that the problem was with .mkv file and not the program. Follow these steps below:
    1) You need to download Mkvtoolnix (https://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVtoolnix) (recommend the portable version)
    2) Open the mmg.exe (if used portable version)
    3) Drag and drop the The.Hunger.Games.Catching.Fire.2013.480p.x264-mSD.mkv, and then hit "Start Muxing"
    4) Now drag and drop the MUXED version of the mkv file into MKVtoMP4 and it should work now.

Other than that you can do the following:
1st analyse your audio with sox: sox "path to audio" -n stat
2nd check out the 'Volume adjustment' value presented in the output of 1.
3rd boost volume with sox and 'gain X' where X is the value of 'Volume adjustment'
this should boost the audio as much as possible without causing clipping
First, thanks for a great piece of software. Works really well.

However, the quoted post has left me confused about Sox. I need to raise the volume of the audio. MKVtoMP4 uses 'gain -n' followed by a value for Sox - should I increase the size of that number (currently 0.1), and by how much? Or do I have it all wrong?

I tried downloading sox but it does not work on video files. Any advice gratefully received.

What should I do so this option is displayed.
Everything is installed on Windows 8.1.

There is no way to change size of subtitles ?

Download SubtitleEdit and open your srt file in it. Then you can change the size, color, font etc. Save it as a .ttxt file (as there is A lOT OF output format in SubtitleEdit you may need to find it by pressing the G key to GPAC Timed Text)

Then open Command Prompt (win+R cmd or win+X, c in windows 8) drag the mp4box.exe (mkvToMp4\tools\mp4box if you don't have it) into cmd.

this can help you add ttxt subtitles to mp4 file

    mp4box -add in.ttxt:lang=eng video.m4v

video.m4v is the file that already been processed by mkvtomp4

You can use ffmpeg(in mk4tomp4\tools\ffmpeg) and mp4box (mk4tomp4\tools\mp4box) to add subtitles if they are missing

first get the subtitle track id

    ffmpeg -i in.mkv

if the subtitle track is 0:2, export it by this command

    ffmpeg -i in.mkv -map 0:2 out.srt

add the subtitles to m4v file using mp4box

    mp4box -add out.srt:lang=por video_file_processed_by_mkvToMp4.m4v

    done.

:lang="" specifies the track language. if your subtitle is not english, find your 3 charactor language code by this command

    mp4box -languages

the option "size" can specifies font size for text import. 18 is the default size.

    Example

    mp4box -add input.ttxtize=18:lang=eng video.m4v

    input.ttxt can be input.srt

Alternatively, you can change the size on your video player(on iOS it is hided in somewhere in the setting).
