    Eyedoctor2,
    Format : VC-1
This format will be full converted. Need AVC (h264) for repacking.

    mfleigle,
It doesnt require iTunes to be installed?
iTunes does not need to search for artworks. You have a strange situation, I can assume that the iTunes search has been disabled in programm settings.

    ROBO731,
Thanks, so the problem is that some of the lines are too long. Do you know how long is too long?
I'm not sure how the maximum length, but very long lines you see at once in a text editor.

    eswarm,
If Eac3To falls, you can try to extract the audio track in another program and convert to AAC. Then add a track to mkvtomp4 as external.

I used the same exact mkvtomp4 folder/settings. Copied the complete folder from pc to laptop. Are you sure you are on iTunes 11 on your pc? I have even tried a fresh windows installation with iTunes 11, and a freshly unzipped mktomp4 (with default settings) no luck. Is there a log I can check for artwork search errors?

EDIT: I decided to add mkvtomp4 to my firewall and now it works. But I never added it before, when it worked around the time of iTunes 10.

Edit 2: Now I get the "Error: Track 1: NAL too big"

    mfleigle,
Program needs access to the Internet to search for tags and artworks.
Now I get the "Error: Track 1: NAL too big"
This is extract error, the file will not repacking. Need to use another source.

Question: When I convert movies for the Apple TV 3 I get different subtitle sizes. The one is normal and the other is too small. How can I change it to the same size? What kind of subtitle format can I use?

  8. Hi,
    Thanks for this great program.
Installed total media theatre but can not get Arcsoft decoder recognized by the program.
Could anyone please give me some instructions to get it working? i have a 7 channels DTS file I wat to convert to AC3.

Edited: Finally found a working Arcsoft codec, all is working fine now.

Edited2: Have problems with DTS-ES 6.1 audio, it converts with arcsoft decoder but makes like metallic sounds, can't hear anything. Any idea? Thanks.

Love the program. Works great for mkv but I have been having a problem recently with avi files. The video comes out very choppy when played on Apple TV 2. May just be a low quality originals as others have been fine. I tried Apple TV and Superfast presets with same result.

Can you tell anything from this log? iTunes Video Dimension is 624x352. Thanks, Danny

UPDATE: Just tried to see how the converted file played when playing through my BluRay USB port and it was fine so it appears to be with the Apple TV or maybe my network.

Would it be possible to add the ability to convert the audio to mp3? I like to use the program to re-encode 5.1 ac3 avis to 2.0 AAC, but would rather be using mp3

  12. Great program... is there a way to increase the volume of the resulting MP4file? I'm finding the files are really low volume and I have to turn my receiver up almost all the way when I watch them on my PS3.

Likewise, if I can easily increase the volume... can I redo my already existing MP4 files since I've already deleted my MKV files?

    Thanks!

I too would be interested in command line options - anything to make the process more automated. Any chance of open sourcing the code?

  15. I just discovered your tool a few days ago and it is awesome. Works great for getting files in order for Apple TV.

    Feature Request:
I would love to see an ability to batch tag. I find myself doing a whole (tv) season at once and having to go to each file and searching the same thing with a different episode number. since it can detect the episode number from the title, it would be cool if once you searched for and found the right show, it could process all the different episodes at once.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Edit Update: After playing around, i see that you can already do this by selecting all and then searching. This application rocks!

  18. Great utility and I thank you for your efforts!!

I'm experiencing audio sync issues with a large number of TV show MKV files converted to M4V with MkvToMp4 v0.222. All the MKV files are H.264 @ 23.976fps with 5.1 AC3 audio. No re-encoding is being done on the video and I have AC3 set to passthrough. The resulting M4V files are slightly out of sync on my Apple TV 2 & 3. The original MKV files are perfectly in sync. I've had them for a while and watch them on many different hardware/software configurations. Any suggestions??

    Thanks again,
    Bitwize

    Bitwize,
May be out of sync for a lot of reasons, I need to look at the source file. It is easier to find another source for repacking.

    ScarAce1989,
This so that the subtitles show up bottom the window in QT player.

    joys,
I have not found a bug
The setting what you want is in the general tags settings.

    mstrelan,
    steve51184,
    No command-line options.

    sylance,
You need to enable "Edit mode" for MP4 and on each audio tracks enable flags AAC Encode and Sox.

  22. Question:
What would be the optimal settings to change an mkv to mp4 for the roku2 xs?

I cannot have h.264 level 5. I need level 4 and when I asked the program to change it to level 4 it still produced files with MPEG4-Visual and level 5.

    Any help is much appreciated

  23. First this is a great program. I use it all the time.

One thing I would like to use it for is converting home movies that I captured on my JVC video camera. These files are in a .MOD format.

Do you know if this would be possible to convert these types of files? The reason I would want to use this is because I wont lose any quality and the quick speed of conversion.

Any help would be greatly appericated.

    ecsjr,
No, it's program promotion You can remove it through another application.

I have uploaded a sample file as requested. It is called MOV287.ZIP. It is a standard .MOD file that comes off my JVC video camera.

Thanks heaps for looking into this.

I understand the need or want to promote your program. No complaints about that. As for using another program to remove it? Like once I have the .mp4 from your program run it through another program called? Just curious because I use subler to create MP4s on Mac and the resulting file does not have the "writing application" tag but under windows using YAMB (custom edition upgraded by me) and your program, both seem to stamp the programs name in the resulting file. Any help is welcomed. Again, thank you.

    tonybrooks,
I will add the extension MOD in the next release. Prior to that, you can rename the extension to MPG. But your camera shoots video in interlaced scan, so when encoding converts interlace-progressive. My program does not know how to do high quality, so in video becoming effect "combing". So the video is better encode more advanced programs for this purpose, such as Sony Vegas.

    ecsjr,
Use MetaX to edit all of tags. (http://www.danhinsley.com/metax/metax.html)

  29. I read all the pages here (some good stuff). So I don't know if I missed this:
I made a couple m4v's from mkv's using your program (video pass through, audio AC3 pass through + AAC 2ch). The resulting files work great in all 3rd party apps (VLC, MPlayerX, etc) but only issue I have is in iTunes 11. When skipping to another chapter the video freezes but the audio is playing. This lasts about 5 seconds and then continues normally.
The files are being played locally.

    Any ideas?
    Quote Quote
  30. oreons, thanks for your quick reply. I tried renaming the file as suggested and it allows me to convert the video. As you stated the resulting converted video has the lines through it, so I guess that is what you were talking about.

Regarding using Vegas, its a $600 product, so a little out of my price range. That is what I loved about yours was the price but more importantly the speed at the conversion and the ease of use.

I will keep looking around for a quick program that is easy to use.

Thanks for all of your assistance with this issue.

    cheers
