I am trying to understand all of the tricks to render for DVDArchitect. Before when I used the TMPGEnc.DVD.Author I extracted the video and created a file with the .m2v entension. According to advice on forums I should render using Save as type: Main Concept MPEG-2 and Template: DVD Architect PAL video stream but what extension should the file have? And the audio - should it be .mpa or .ac3?

If you have Vegas (Pro 11 version for example) you'll find the info in the program online help section under Rendering Projects for use in DVD Architect.
-
Yes, I have seen that but when I set the parameters as I said before the video file gets an extension of .mpg and I wonder if that is correct.
-
Yes, then DVD Architect does not recompress your file, when you make a DVD.

as per your description, hope you are rendering with Main Concept MPEG-2 and DVD Architect PAL video Template... which is OK.
you can include audio in output.mpg. by default Vegas and almost all other professional softwares renders audio to MPEG Layer -II.
The file extension for MPEG Layer -II Audio is .mp2, neither .mpa nor .ac3.
So, audio - should it be .mp2

All professional DVD authoring softwares including DVD Architect supports Dolby Digital, DTS, PCM(uncompressed audio), MPEG-1 Layer-II audio. This is exactly what the DVD specification is.
-
That's the point, but you need to know what audio files your particular software accepts. Program specifications usually help.

@vkmast
u r really mast, i mean genius.
coz i still remember once i bought expensive software called DVDNoAuthor Professional which did not accept DTS and Ac-3. I relalized after going through program specifications only coz there was no information on internet.
I guess there are two types of software developers....
first type is they know exactly what they are coding - creating....
rest do not know what they are coding or creating or they just even do not know what are the specifications???
neway i like only first type,,,,
Have FuN!

I can't get this right. I am trying to render as follows:
Main Concept MPEG-2(*.mpg;*.m2v;*.m2t;*.mpa)
=DVD Architect PAL video stream
but what extension should the file have, .mpg, .m2v, m2t, mpa?
I have tried both .mpg and .m2v but then DVDA want to recompress the file. -

I'm new to DVDA so I didn't realize that the output format was set to NTSC. I changed it to PAL and now it responds with no recompression messages. Thanks!
