    Hi!

    Source picture: https://forum.videohelp.com/images/imgfiles/1B2Vd.jpg
    Result picture: https://forum.videohelp.com/images/imgfiles/3DdOD.jpg

This happens once and then and I dont have a clue why. This is 4th time I encounter to this. As you can see the source is just plain mkv with audio and videotrack in side of it. No +ms in audio, header stripping, no subtitles etc. Nothing that could buggy the encode. I use avchdcoder.

Im wondering if anyone else had similar experience? Conversion of this works with bdtoavchd, but I'd like to get it to work with avchdcoder because it supports multiple audio/subtitles (+ EXTERNAL SUBTITLES!!!!!!!!) that bdtoavchd does not support.

ps. I have codecs ok etc. This happens like 1-2 times every 20 encodes, so it's not common issue, but it's 1-2 times too much still

    Thanks in advance.

    Edit:

Encoded the movie without HQ subtitles (just unchecked the box) and it turned out to be ok (normal subs, normal size, lenght, plays correctly etc). Maybe this is smth to do with subs?

Try contact the avchdcoder author, http://tools.twanwintjes.nl/index.php?page=contact , and include as much information as possible.

Yeah, I did that too, but in case he gets too much questions this is more permanent + it might help someone else if we get answer to here.

I've used Avchdcoder in the past while it produces great results in most cases it was notoriously slow, and the fact that it trans-codes everything i threw at it (even compliant video) left me seeking other methods to create AVCHD titles.
Switch tools, you can use multiavchd to tran-scode and author, or you could use x264 CLI to encode your video (better video quality and compliance), then author your AVCHD in AvchdCoder.
Murphy's law taught me everything I know.

Didn't experience this problem yet. If you added an external subtitles file this could happen (if the subtitles file has a line on 13 hour). Because the duration of the container is bases on the stream with the longest duration. So a couple of questions:
If you play the disc in a blu-ray player or play the m2ts with a software player. Does it run fine? If you jump to 50% of the movie with the timeline. Does it go to 8,5 hours or not?

    @dragonkeeper,
now there are some inputs that can be used without video encoding aka remux mode. The main reason the wasn't possible in the past is because I could not (and still) predict the output file size.

So where did the text stream come from then? I suspect the issue with this is because of the subtitles added. And you have confirmed as much....

So does Multiavchd. A much better alternative in my opinion.

When I opened m2ts file with splash pro or vlc it said its 13 hours long. Video and audio runs just normal, but even I had subtitles enabled they dont show up. If I jump to 50% of timeline it's all black, nothing goes there.

Im not really searching alternative as avchdcoder and bdtoavchd are what I use and im happy with them. Multiavchd's calculates results wrong and img is usually smaller than it could be (=loss of bitrate). Also it doesnt have queue option which I highly prefer cause it lets me leave pc to do encode while im sleeping at night, instead organizing stuff one by one when I could play or do smth else..

Subs only work on a blu-ray compatible player. VLC cannot show them. Anyway this is source related. Your audio or subs are the issue.

Now you misunderstood me. I know vlc is not br/avchd compliant player, but it still shows picture and I just wanted to see if it shows the same black content. I mainly use splash pro or cyberlink powerdvd for avchd, they work very well - and they dont show subtitles in those 13 hour long projects neither.

This case solved when I turned hq subtitles off, result was normal length, subs normal etc. Earlier project it didnt help, normal or hq, result ended 13 hour and some minutes long and there were no subtitles. I remuxed video, audio and subtitles and encoded mkv with bdtoavchd and it worked, SO my wild guess is that it has smth to do with program in avchdcoder or that program in it that does subtitle converting.

In that case it sounds like a real problem. Can you tell me which source you used (via email) and please send me the used subtitles.
