I plug my pc into a dynex 37 inch tv, NO docs so im trying to see what resolutions are supported. I set the display to 1680x1050, the screen goes garbled but the indicator on the tv says 1920x1080 at this point. Is the pc outputting wrong signal? Here is another thing to add to this problem confusionwise. I fired up crysis 2 and set the rez to 1680x1050 and it WORKED. At this moment on the desktop the onlyt good res I can get it 1280x720, but I would much prefer 1680x1050.
This is ATI HD 6670 and the tv model I am not quite sure of yet I'll have to lift up or something look around to find the full model title or something to get actual supported specas.

Check the refresh rate at 1680x1050. Try 60 Hz or 50 Hz. Many HDTVs will not support resolutions other than standard broadcast resolutions: 1920x1080i30, 1280x720p60 in the USA. What connection are you using? HDMI? VGA? Component?

more than likely your desired resolution isn't supported. Not all LCD tv's you can just plug your pc into and choose a resolution. It doesn't work that way. Vizio tv's are the same. They have a set number of resolution it supports...i.e....1920x1080..1024x768 etc(there are 5 with Vizio I believe)...you pick and choose your rez and thats it. They aren't dedicated PC monitors so they cant all achieve bucketfuls of resolutions.
check the specs in your manual and it should tell you what rez's are supported. -
I am using fiv adapter to VGA. I have 6 HDMI cables in a box somewhere I have to find to try that too. Right now off to work wil test mor elater.

And isn't it odd that Crysis 2 worked @ 1680x1050! I'll try another game later at that res to and see what happens.
