i wrote bose a letter asking them how in the hell a $1000 system doesnt play vcds.... this is what they sent me back
Thank you for your inquiry. Since fewer than 1% of the current US market
requires a VCD player, there are no plans at this time to offer such a
player with the Bose home entertainment systems. Please let us now if there
is anything else you need.

Have you tried to burn a mini-DVD? It sounds like Bose can only read DVD, CD Audio and MP3. I went to a local Bose outlet and the rep there was not sure about vcd & svcd. She did say it would be safe to say that the end answer would be no.
If you can play mini-DVD, your system could play back moives with greater sound and vision than VCD ever could.
