I'm not sure I see the exact one you're talking about. Can you link to it directly?
If you plan to print directly onto a disc, be sure the description says "printable." Usually lacquer means it is not printable.

It does say it is printable but doesn't spell out if it is ink jet printable. It does have that scratch resistant surface. I don't know if that surface really makes much of a difference, but it does install some additional confidence in the discs. I can save money and go without the hard coat technology, but I am hesistant because with the tough coat it just seems it is better and will last longer. I store my discs in disc wallets and I have read they leave micro scratches, so I am hopeful the hard coat protects the discs. -
You're right it does say printable in the description, but not inkjet printable. The image they have for it is this, which leads me to believe they mean you can "print" on it with a marker/Sharpie, but not a printer.
If your intention is to print on them directly with a printer, I recommend you contact them to verify and/or look for alternatives. -
Verbatim does sell inkjet pritable media, imho the color produced is better than that of the TY inkjet printable media. You're right about wallets leaving micro scratches on media, hence a good reason to not use wallets I would think, rather than a reason to spend money on a way to circumvent the damage they can cause.to my knowledge the tough coat does not prevent micro scratches, tough coat is a safe guard against deep scratches from like accidental drops and the like. Micro scratches are often caused by sand particles aka silica, which is harder than the tough coat.
Murphy's law taught me everything I know. -
I could use this type but it doesn't have hard coat technology:

I think Tayo Yuden has been considered the best dvd media so I will stick with that. I am using the disc wallets to save space. So far I haven't run across any problems by putting discs in the wallets. I did think the hard coast technology was useful to help protect the discs. -

P:1: The DVD-Rs in your second link are the ones I currently buy. I buy T-Ys because Lord Smurf rated them best on his digital faq website. They are more money, but at the end of the day, it is better to buy a quality product that has a chance of lasting then burning stuff to crappy cheap discs that don't hold up.
