  1. I've been using this great little program to mux my MKV conversions to .TS
(because my bluray only plays mpeg2 from within TS not MKV)

I was just wondering what - if any - advantages there would be in using M2TS
(or any other wrapper for that matter) from a practical point of view?

  2. .m2ts is usually compatible with more software & devices

disadvantage: slightly larger than .ts because it has extra timecode information (organized in 192byte packets vs. 188byte packets)

transport streams add about 4-6% overhead compared to mkv container, but are generally supported by more devices (although mkv support in devices has inreased dramatically recently)
