I'm running Sony Vegas Pro 9 on Windows XP and I'm having problems importing .mp4 video files into the timeline. The files in question are web stream captures from MTV and youtube. When I check them with Mediainfo, under the "general" tab it says Flash Video format, and under the "video" tab it says AVC format (the same problem exist with .mkv Matroska files). Other .mp4 files showing MPEG4 in the "general" tab and AVC under "video" tab import just fine. If it makes any difference, I do have the latest quicktime codec from apple installed.

Remux to a standard mp4 with mymp4boxgui or yamb. Open the mp4 under multiplex and make a new mp4.
Or try mp4camtoavi. It might reconvert though.
