I'm rather new at Win 7-64, as I started running it mostly because of my editing program Avid Media Composer. The program opens alright, but with no video. So I guess the question is probably a codec problem. What codecs should I install with Win 7-64?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

Most of us would likely advise to just install the codecs you need or are working with.
A few codecs have 64bit versions. But you also need a 64bit app that can use them. I don't know about Avid.
Many of my programs only run in 32bit mode. If I have 32bit codecs installed, normally no problem. I do run W7 64bit. With 64bit or 32bit programs, and codecs, they need to be installed in the proper Windows directory, 64bit or 32bit. -
Subtitle Workshop doesn't have a 64-bit version, I believe, so you'll need to use 32-bit codecs. Use MediaInfo on the videos you're trying to open in Subtitle Workshop (if they're AVI or MPEG, you can also use GSpot), and see which video codec each uses, then install the necessary codecs.
You can probably just install the 32-bit version of ffdshow and enable the relevant codecs (in both the VfW and DirectShow video codec configuration dialogs). However, since you're using Win7, you may also need to use the Preferred Filter Tweaker. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
OK. Stage two. Following some directions I found on the web I could install SW and it did work for a few days, as it should.
But since yesterday Windows 7 started working weird. It stopped seeing srt files as associated to SW and I can't make W7 to open srt files with it. No matter what I do.
I reinstalled SW and nothing.
It only works if I run SW and then open the srt file from it. Runs with video and fine. But it's the wrong way to use it.
I wonder what might be happening and what can I do to solve it.
