  1. I am trying to create a bdmv to burn to a blu ray disk using an mkv file as the input. I want to add a menu and transcode the file to make it compliant but every time I try, multiAVCHD fails after the transcode process, which according to the log goes fine. The multiAVCHD log shows the following,

I have tried to run the same mkv file through gdsmux.exe but once this mkv goes through multiAVCHD I end up with a film with a serious audio sync issue. The following is the mediainfo data on the original mkv file,

I don't seem to be able to complete this project at all and have not had problems with other mkv files. Anyone got any ideas on a possible cause for the tsmuxer failure?

    Cheers

Just like back in the early Divx days when dumbass people thought that having GMC of 3 was just fantastic, from what I've read it seems that a growing number of dumbasses are now convinced that Header Stripping if just fantastic too. It's NOT. But then again you didn't pay for the video so it's like you've got any room to complain. So my guess is that header stripping is screwing you over. There is some way to fix it but I don't remember what it is. You might search the forums for "header stripping" or maybe someone will post later on what to do.

  3. Hi jman

I agree with you, header stripping is a major pain in the ar5e. I have successfully used gdsmux in the past to get round this but for some odd reason I end up with audio sync problems. I will have a good look around Google again for some advice.

    Cheers

here is the procedure to clear header striping. (Required tools:mkvmerg)

    from command line:
    mkvmerge -o myVideo.mkv --compression -1:none myVideo.mkv

    From gui:
Add file--make sure all tracks u want are checked-->in the "extra options" tab you must set compression to none -->click "Start Muxing"
Murphy's law taught me everything I know.

So I'm having what appears to be the same problem as the OP. I have some episodes of a show I recorded from an InfiniTV card which started out as MPEG2 .wtv files with AC3 384kbps audio. I edited out the commercials with VideoReDo and saved them as .m2ts files. I then used VidCoder to render these at CRF 20, decomb, detelecine to give me some nice 1080p 23.976 fps MKV files and transfered to my server for backup. I also loaded these MKVs into multiAVCHD to make a bluray backup and the resulting .iso file when viewed with TMT5 has major audio synch issues. I figured maybe TMT was being goofy so I burned the iso to a BDR with ImgBurn and popped it in my PS3.... same synch problem. I tried the mkvmerge trick to save the header but after going through the same process up to the .iso image, I still had the synch problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

cjbrown80 - Probably should have just made a new thread for this. It's really best to avoid thread hijacking although I will grant you that in this case your post is arguably somewhat related to the original topic. Anyway...

You need to determine where the sync issues begin. Is your edited video in sync after VideoReDo finishes editing it? VideoReDo has intelligent ways to deal with dropped and bad packets from TV recordings so what you get after VideoReDo finishes SHOULD be in sync. If not, you might try VideoReDo's stream fixer under the Tools section of the GUI. If it goes out of sync after VidCoder handles it, then you have at least determined where the problem is. Do note that some TV channels do really crazy things to their signals. In the USA, CBS has probably the most screwed up broadcasts of anybody. They've been known to mix framerates and at least where I live, dropped packets are common. I gave up trying to record anything to my PC from CBS long ago, but fortunately I don't watch many CBS shows so it's not a problem for me to just not record them.

Jman- Apologies on the hijack, it seemed like my trouble pertained enough to the OP that it would be better here than a new thread, sorry.
The MKVs from VidCoder are perfectly fine viewed through MPC-HCx64 or WMP/WMC. I'm assuming the sync problem occurs during the muxing process multiAVCHD is performing to create its .m2ts files. Does that sound like the "header stripping" issues others have had?
    Thanks for your input!

Dangit! I think I figured it out. My VidCoder preset somehow slipped over to "same as source" for the frame rate setting (which I believe will result in a variable rate). Even though it's reported as 23.976, when I load the MKV file into tsMuxer, it shows the frame rate as 90,000 (obviously not what it should report). I manually set it to 23.976 and I'm running an encode of one of the episodes right now. I'll report back if this solves the problem or not.

  9. I have m2ts files that I edited the commercials out with TSSniper. They play fine in media player and media player classic. However after I use MultiACHD and burn the bluray disc the audio is out of sync. So your culprit may be MultiAVCHD.

I tried using DVDArchitect Studio 5 and it makes the files play too fast and with no sound. I figured mayber DVDArchitect studio doesn't properly support .m2ts files. So I tried capturing in .mp4. The files are MUCH smaller and don't appear to play smoothly.

It's been a pain in the azz to get my shows to a bluray with menus.

Btw I'm capturing with a Hauppauge Collossus card with Arcsoft showbiz.

Anyone have any success getting the files onto a bluray with menus and playing properly?
