Hi all just found this forum and it looks excellent but I have not been on many forums for computer help/advice. Hope someone can help? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urnchemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I have been trying to save data from my pc using Nero 6 and keep getting error messages saying: "non critical error" when trying to copy data. Does this mean it will burn my data but to DVD but may not be able to be read once it’s been burned, or will it just not burn all the data in the folder I am trying to burn form my HDD to DVD? It looks like it could be a filename that is too long but not sure now what is the limit of characters can be used in a file name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi baldrick, Many Thanks for your prompt reply. I was going to upgrade my version but didn't think i had to as i thought it should still work ok, as i am using the same pc and DVD RW as before and didn't get these messages before?

My RW type is an NEC_DVR_RW ND-1300A and it is about 3 years old but i only use it for data back-up, and don't copy much else. wil look into updating when i've backed up my current data.

    Regards

  4. Which version of Windows are you using?
XP is the last MS OS that Nero 6 supports.

Fot it's intended purpse Nero is very bloated. There are many free apps that do a better job. Personaly i recommen Imgburn

    Free Burning tools.

Hi all, many thanks for all your great input, to answer some of your questions, the version of Win I am using is, XP Pro with service pack 3, also i have a 3.25 Ghz Pentium P4 Processor, and 512 Mb Memory i have had this configuration on my Pc for the last 3 years.

I didn't know you could get free burning software so will have a look at it, but as always a lot of people tend you use what they, have an know, but it looks like its time to either change or upgrade what i have. Has anyone got a good preference?

Thanks again for all your great input an await your ideas!

    Regards

  7. I'm a big fan of Burnaware. The free version is excellent.
Also, you can not go wrong at all with imgburn.
