  1. Been backing up my dvd collection to watch on my media server. I have done about 25 encodes so far with various settings and presets. Started out using the presets (normal & high) but after researching around and trying to see what others are using I switched from using the high profile with constant quality of 20 to a high profile with an avergage bitrate of 1500 kb/s. I noticed that the FPS went from about 20-30 which I was getting in the high profile to about 60-80 using average bitrate. Am I better of with one setting over the other? I am trying to get file size between 1-1.5 gigs and dont care too much about encoding time. I am watching on a 90" 480p projector as well as 55" 1080p led.

    Current settings are
    strict
    filters off
    h264
    1500 kbps abr
    2 pass turbo first
advanced settings the same as high profile

they are your eyes, create the videos as you like to watch them. i use vidcoder to create templates i like and re-use them. vidcoder is a gui front-end for handbrake and allows queuing up as many encodes as you want.
