As with my previous thread my laptop was dying a slow painful death. Anyway got a good deal online, acer i5 2.3-2.9GHz 8gig ddr3 ram, 500gig hdd usb3 etcetc... Sobeibg my first new comp in 3.5 years and first window 7 pc i would love a list of what free programs i should get for it?Anti virus/malware/spyware, video player/codecs, converters, office replacement ( if it uses same file format as word otherwise might be useless) basically every free program you think essential for your comp. i use my comp mainly for photo/video filing/editing, lots of videoconverting, online all day ( oh with laptops how long should they stay on before turning off? My offpeak is at night so i have it on all night downloading)
    Any suggestions would be welcomed

I'd get a couple of external hard drives and a laptop cooler.
