So I'm brand new to video editing and I picked up Cyberlink PowerDirector 9.0, can't really say why I chose that one. Anywho, I've got two cameras that I used to shoot an interview with a friend about his business and I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to use the software.

Seems like most software these days doesn't include much in the way of documentation, and PowerDirector is no exception.

The help file only tells me how to do things like resize windows or cut clips, but it doesn't tell me how to do other things. For example, I have these two video tracks and I want to show one some of the time and the other the rest of the time. I can't even figure that out. I envisioned having the two tracks sync'd up and my just selecting the portions from each one that I want in the final edit. But unless there's something I'm missing, it looks more like I create tiny little edits from each track and put them in series, which seems dang near impossible to me.

I'm hoping there is a better workflow option and that people who are more familiar with editing software in general may know how to bring out some feature that I can't find.

    Thanks!

  2. I don't know about PowerDirector, but I am doing a multicam editing project atm (4 cams). I'm using Sony Vegas. Magix Movie Edit Pro will do it too (but only 2 cams I think?). You basically have each cam's video playing, and use your number keypad to switch between them in real-time (ie make a particular cam "active", just like a TV studio vision mixer). You can also manually adjust the edit points later if you wish.

I have stayed away from PowerDirector simply because of all the bad rep it cops here at videohelp. I would look at Vegas for reliability, or even the Magix software, as you said you are dealing with just 2 cams.

EDIT: Having said all that, I'm sure PowerDirector would have multicam editing feature??
