I have shot some video on my iPhone 4 which I am editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. I have copied all of the mov files off of my phone onto my laptop and have viewed them in quick time and they play just fine. However, when I import them into Premiere, they gradually lose sync. Is there a setting I am missing in Premiere to keep the sync? I have been looking for a solution to this for the past few hours, so I am finally giving up and asking for help.
Thanks.

Additional info: I have shot stuff on my iphone before and have had no problems, however those were shorter clips than what I'm trying to edit now. It seems the longer the clip, the more out of sync it gets.

CS5 Premiere was never intended to edit highly compressed phone video. Certainly not AAC audio.
How many iPhone users that also can afford Adobe Suite CS5 are there? May be a business opportunity.
So, Lord, what is your budget? $2000/year for Iphone + CS5. What would you pay?Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

I'm not exactly sure what you're implying there, but I don't own the copy of CS5. It belongs to a friend of mine who videos weddings for a living, he lets me use his laptop when he's working on his desktop. And before you ask, Yes I asked him, he doesn't know how to fix it, since he uses actual cameras.

I have imported the video into Premiere. When I view it (by either hitting the space bar or clicking the play button) it plays fine for about 10 secs, then starts to lose sync. I figured it was just a display problem with the laptop so I tried exporting a section of the video, but it was still out of sync.
OR, if you meant you could suggest another program.. I am just trying to edit clips out of a series of videos which are 5-10mins long and splice them together to make a montage. The only reason I am using CS5 in the first place is cause my friend uses it and can answer the more technical questions rather than me trying to figure out another application from scratch. However, if these files won't work with CS5, I guess I'll have to.Last edited by LordPython; 17th Oct 2011 at 21:08.

Ok, thanks, I'll give that a try.
EDIT: I got the trial, it does handle the file format beautifully, now I just need to figure out how to use the software, he he. Thanks again.Last edited by LordPython; 18th Oct 2011 at 01:57.

The problem with Premiere (and most other editors) is it will take a non-supported format and use third party codecs to separately decode video and audio. Since iPhone video lacks industry standard time code, the decoded video and audio play independently without synchronization.

Ah, so that explains it. I can't wait till I can afford an actual camera. I think it will make editing much easier, it will defiantly look much better. However, from what I am recording now, I need the stealth-ness of a camera phone. Basically I take a bunch of video at my girlfriend's family get together s (almost everyone gets drunk and funny) I then edit the footage into a funny montage and add some music. Everyone always love them (when they're not in them) but they know no one is safe, he he.

Tips: You don't need the trimmer window, make cuts with the "C" key, use up/down arrows to zoom in/out. It's very simple and straightforward. Look for the tools you need right in the timeline, at the place you need them, not in a pulldown or dialog box. Everything is "graphical" as it should be in a proper GUI.

An actual camcorder will not save you if the audio is external. I shoot and edit videos of events shot with AVCHD camcorders on Premiere Pro CS5. Audio is mainly taken from FOH, captured on a Zoom R16. These events last more than 2hrs mostly. When Premiere gained the ability to natively open and edit AVCHD in CS4, the one thing I immediately noticed jumping in was audio would drift by as much as 10 frames total or more over the course of two hours or so. Fortunately, since audio was in one long file and AVCHD video was in 2GB chunks (about 11 minutes or so each) as created by the camcorder, I just manually synced each clip to its respective place vis-a-vis the audio on the timeline. This way, audio drift is distributed through out the program in small, unnoticeable lengths. Cutting between clips in a multi-cam timeline further removes any hint of audio-video sync issues.
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".
