I've returned to these forums after an extended absence because I've finally been able to replace my OOOOOLLLLDD computer (left behind during a move) with a nice new shiny i7 laptop with Win7.

My return was prompted by a VirtualDub error (cannot find xvidcore.dll) - which served to remind me how much work went into making everything work properly on my old computer. That particular problem has been fixed using the info found here (thx all), but I do have another question...

I noticed that a new version of win7codecs was posted today, and I don't see XVid listed among them. Is it included?

tired old subject. only install the codecs you need as required. codec packs are still garbage and can do more harm than good.

xvid is a standalone codec you can install, if something needs xvidcore.dll, and it's not part of the xvid codec install it's not needed and most likely is a virus/trojan.
