  1. Downloaded an mkv file the other day which was in 5 or 6 rars. For some reason since I moved house almost all rars come up with CRC errors when I unpack them. Not sure if that's why it's messed up or just a bad file anyway. This mkv is about 5.5gb and plays fine but there is no thumbnail. I tried using MetaFox to rewrite it or whatever it does to make the thumbnail appear (Using shark007 codecs to show mkv thumbnails btw).

Everytime I run it through MetaFox it gets stuck on 48% and the remaining count down goes down to 0 and the elapsed keeps going up.

I tried using MKV extract GUI 2 to extract the streams. .h264 and a .dts file. When I tried to put them back with mkvmerge it got stuck again (I'm assuming it was the same place as with MetaFox).

When using mkvmerge I got this error repeating itself

    dts_header problem: invalid core frequency

The original file does play but there's clearly something wrong with it. Any ideas on how to sort it?

    Cheers

  2. OK I've just run each one through MetaFox individually and the .dts file froze but the .h264 file went through fine. Guess I've found the problem.

Any way to fix a corrupt .dts file?

Perhaps Winrar, to see if it can fix the RAR files. Sometimes, there are recovery records within the file.
Did you download it through bit torrent?

Tried that and there aren't any

I downloaded it from megaupload. I'm trying to download again just to see whether something corrupted it on the way down.

I have managed to half get it working. I ran the .dts file through several "fixing " programs of which none seemed to work. Finally converted it to a multichannel wav then to an ac3 and now I have it back with the video stream and it works, and has a thumbnail which is what I wanted in the first place ( The way I see it, if there's no thumbnail there is something up with the file and I'd like to fix whatever it is) but....it's slightly out of sync now. Whether that has something to do with the FPS I don't know. If this redownload still is messed up I will fiddle with it and try and get it in sync. Creeps though, starts off fine at the start then goes out of sync.
Anyone know of a program that makes it easy to fix?

    Cheers

  5. Just redownloaded the rars and unpacked. Still got a CRC error but the rebuild with Metafox worked this time around.
