    Just a newbie question buy why are some radio stream stations louder than others?
    Is it the player, way its encoded, bit rate or what?

    note: Streamed using FF browser

    Fuller and Richer Sound

    Not as loud

  2. Louder is just their choice at what volume level to use. "Fuller" is usually a matter of bitrate. The fuller stream you linked to is 96 kbps MPEG audio 44.1 KHz, stereo. The other is 49 kbps WMA2 44.1 KHz, 16 bit, stereo.

  4. Note that WMA2 usually sounds a little better than MP3 at similar bitrates.

    Do you have a app to recommend that would check the Kb/s bitrate, Hz etc?
