I have been sent a a DVD that has been created with Kodak Easyshare. It contains one .mov file.

I've been sent a MOVie created with Kodak Quickshare. It's in MOV format but VLC tells me there are 25 separate streams within the movie.

When I play it - using VLC - the first stream plays but the subsequent streams all play in separate windows (Headed: VLC Direct3D output). I end up with 25 windows all over my desktop.

With other players the first clip/stream plays but, when it stops the movie progresses through the other clips but only plays the sound.

Does anyone know what I can do to correct this problem?

Probably the way Kodak Quickshare creates it's MOV is to save the individual elements in the "timeline" as separate "layers" (or streams if you will) that are not "FLATTENED" upon output (this is using QT's own nomenclature).

Because VLC and similar players see "layers" as analogous to multiple muxed video streams (which in a sense they are), it relies on the only method available to VFW/Directshow players with are NOT "stereo-aware" (or "multi-channel-aware") and that is to pop up the indivdual clips in separate windows.

The way to fix this is to:
    A. Play it in QT Player - it knows how to deal correctly with files such as this.
    or
    B. Open in QTPro, MPEGStreamclip or similar QT-based app, and "Flatten" and re-save/re-export the file and then play normally wherever.

Many thanks. As you say, plays okay with QT and running it through MPEG Streamclip and saving as an AVI has got me a good copy.
