  1. Can't say I've noticed this until now, but whenever I open a video file with VLC (1.1.11) by d-clicking or using Open With, it plays at a (loud) volume of '100%', rather than using whatever level I've previously set. Is that by design? Can I change it please? I know what level I like, and don't want to have to change it every time!

  3. Thanks Baldrick!

While you're on a roll ... do you happen to know a way to get VLC to keep the final frame showing after it finishes playing please? I've searched hard (which I confess I didn't for this audio issue) but so far not found a solution. I can of course just drag the slider leftwards, so no big deal, but ...

Nope. I would ask in the vlc forum.

  5. Thanks, but where is the VLC forum? Your link takes me to the Tools > VLC section, but it appears to be strictly for comments, not questions:

And the link there takes me back to videohelp.

  6. Thanks to AlanHK I see now that you hadn't intended that 'VLC' as a link - it was videohelp that converted it to one!

I've now posted my query in http://forum.videolan.org
