  1. I'm going to Nigeria for a work assignment. I purchased a slingbox HD so I could watch US TV from Lagos. It requires a minimum of 384kbps for SD streaming, 1.5 MBps for HD streaming. I've heard that download speeds in Nigeria is considerably less. Can any of you make a recommendation or give me guidance on how I can capture the stream and play it back later? At this point, hardware will not be a problem. I have a Dell XPS laptop, Win7 Home Premium OS, Intel Dual Core T7200 @2.0 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 32 bit. I will get what I need.

  2. Doesn't the Slingbox stream live video? Where are all the bits going to be saved while your slow pipe downloads? It's like saying you want to open a fire hydrant and sip the water slowly with a straw. Most of the water is going to down the drain.

You'll need to find a way to save the slingbox output to an intermediate storage device. Then sip slowly from that.

  3. Jagabo, that's the rub. Because Nigeria probably has slower download bandwidth than required, I'd like to capture it as it comes in and send it to a buffer for later retrieval. I just don't know how all of this works. Any ideas?
