I've got a strange problem when viewing certain blu-ray discs on my philips bdp 3406,the video gets a lot of drop outs and chroma smearing,it only occurs when playing as a blu-ray disc in the player or avchd folder on an external drive, when viewing the avchd folder as regular video files they play with no problems.

  2. I guess not retail BD's ? Then which discs have the issue ?

What is the source and how did you author it ? How did you encode it / settings ?

    Type of media ?

I saw something kind of similar some years ago in the pre-BD days. I would rip DVDs to my hard drive and when played back on the PC I would get pixelation in a few spots. I finally figured out that my disk drive was going bad. It could be the cause of your problem too. If the drive is going bad you may see defects at the same places when playing on a PC.

It's not a disc issue, they are 1280x720 clips avc 4.1,that i authored with multiavchd, the videos get really bad even when put on a usb stick and viewed as an avchd but not as m2ts files. The bitrate is around 4k so it's not too low, used uncropmkv on a few but it happens on some and not others.

The videos never pixelate on my computer harddrive or my ps3,just playing on the philips through either disc or usb drive/stick.
