A while ago I switched my MP4 file association from VLC to MediaPlayer Classic (MPC). I'm now beginning to realise that was probably a silly mistake. Having spent hours today trying to understand why a 1920x1080 MP4 I'd made (in Movie Edit Pro 17) was not playing smoothly, I finally realised it wasn't the MP4 at fault but MPC. It plays fine in other programs, like WMP, VLC, PowerDVD, etc.
Should I have expected that? Is it because MPC is so old, and not designed for HD MP4?

Thanks Baldrick. Unfortunately that played jerkily too. I've now switched the association to VLC which seems OK so far. In fact, better than OK, because it gave me an unexpected bonus. I'd been using WMP as the association. Reecently I lost all my MP4 thumbnails again and have been desperately trying to get them back for a couple of days. But the association with VLC has done so!
However, I'm sure I lost them before when VLC was my association of choice, so I'm not confident this will last. Also, I'm darned if i remember why I stopped using VLC as the associated app - must have had some reason
