it looks like he finally lost his battle with cancer at the age of 56, though i hated some, if not all his douche bag decisions and the way he and his company muscled competitors, i'm still sorry to hear of his passing.

    RIP.

It has been going round the wire this morning that Steve Jobs, Apple founder and brains behind the business, has died aged 56. He has been battling pancreatic cancer for several years.

Admittedly not a fan of the product or the company, but it is a shit of a way to go.

The way Jobs ran Apple, from the top down, like a dictator, there's no leadership to step into his shoes, just a bunch of yes-men.

They're probably sniveling and groveling right now over "who's the boss?"

Jobs was the best CEO any company could ever want. He had the vision and passion you can't buy at any price. Apple has a tough road ahead without him.

Yes, sad to see such an innovatoer go so young. An interesting company that I had followed since the early 1980's. Let us hope that Apple survives this and doesn't go down the road of mediocraty that others have, such as Sony seems to have without the guidance of Akio Morita.

    RIP Steve Jobs...

Gawd, the news is now cannibalizing Jobs with their "Come to our website to....." to collect e-mail addresses to build their spam list.

We have already seen Apple go down this road once, with pretty dire consequences. Remember the days of mac clones and Micro$oft having to financially prop them up ? It was only because Jobs came back and gave them the iPod and the work done at NeXT that they are still around today.

  10. RIP Steve, you were a brilliant salesman and innovator but I still won't buy any Apple products. I expect AAPL stock to drop rapidly, first the 4S let-down now this.

    RIP Steve Jobs...
The TV obits compare Jobs to Edison, Ford or even Einstein but I agree with you that Akio Morita was the model Steve Jobs emulated. Morita started with the transistor radio and revolutionized the music, television and extended video production industries all with contemporary style. The iPod was based on Morita's Walkman. The iPhone built on the work of Palm. The Mac success rode atop Xerox, Adobe and Canon innovation.

But Jobs' return to Apple and all that followed was an execution masterpiece.

And don't forget how the "Newton" revolutionized the "bag phone" thanks to Steve.

Cell phones were HUGE back then, but Steve Jobs had a vision of a smaller and lighter one, and they DID get smaller and lighter. What a genius!

If the Newton could make phone calls, we'd be buying them too.

What, you mean you're not grateful that Steve Jobs' super awesome brilliance created the future that we live in now? He was the most super-est awesome person in the world!

Jobs was long gone before the Newton fiasco. I was so unimpressed with John Scully. You would at least expect him to know the advertising production industry, but no. Total blank.

Not a fan of Apple products either but that statement is just plain ignorant, comes from someone who knows nothing about business or just likes to argue for arguments sake. Like my Brother in Law....total, no nothing *******.

To say that Steve Jobs was a con man post mortum, is like saying Hillary is sexier than Monica. IT AIN'T GONNA FLY.

And while the womenfolk rushed to Hillary's defense, after the BJ, we men could understand Bill's frustration, or "blue balls" as they call it in the country.
