    Dear All,

Due to advice here I downloaded DVDshrink and have been experimenting with it and it is very good

My question is this, I had the file placed on my Desktop, reauthored about 5mins of a DVD and it gave me two folders.

    1) Audio_TS which was empty
    2) Video_TS , I know that this is the actual folder that is burnt to the disc, (I have seen the same files, when using AVS video editor/AVS Burner)

I then as an experiment changed the name and imported the VOB file into AVS video Editor and it worked, sound, Video excellent!, I will be editing, adding chapters, trimming , adding transitions etc....so a couple of questions

what exactly are the other files in the folder?, there are 5 files:
    1) VIDEO_TS (IFO file 6kb)
    2) VTS_01_0 (IFO file 12kb)
    3) VTS_01_1 (VOB File 183,260kb)
    4) VIDEO_TS.BUP (Bup file 6kb)
    5) VTS_01_0. BUP (Bup file 12kb)

I am guessing that you need all of them if you were going to burn straight to a disc for play, correct?

    Regards & Thanks

    David

Look under Directory and File Structure.

And yes, you need all the files for the disk to play back properly.

    Edit: too late

As to your topic question, TS would stand for 'Title Set'.

Renaming the folders - Audio_TS (not really required) and Video_TS(required) - should affect the abilty of a player to actually recognise that a dvd disk is loaded and be capable of playing it but I have never renamed the folder and burnt a disk to prove this or otherwise - does not apply to a software player as you can select any folder and it just looks for the .ifo file.

And you burn the folder, with its associated files, and not just the files within the folder to make a compliant dvd.

Probably obvious, but VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS have to be capitalized and spelled exactly or they won't be recognized most of the time. The AUDIO_TS folder is rarely used. A good explanation of the AUDIO_TS folder: http://www.hifi-writer.com/he/dvdaudio/whatisdvda.htm
