If you look at the Amazon list under cameras you will find that Nikon is the bestselling DSLR, but Canon is the Top Rated.

    Does that make sense?

  2. Many people buy a DSLR based on lenses they have from their old SLR. Just because people rate their purchases at Amazon (or anywhere else) doesn't mean they have the knowledge to judge the products properly. Maybe Canon pays more people to write reviews at Amazon. History is replete with examples where the best product has lost out to a lesser device.

I think it's that they're buying on price point because I notice Nikon is putting TWO starter lenses in their kit to make up for lack of one decent lens, and they're priced a little lower.

So the average consumer thinks they're getting a great "2-Fer"deal until later when they have to carry a 2nd lens everywhere, so the warm fuzzy goes away, and they go back and knock off a star.
