Hi !
I have a documentary series with about 15 episodes and found subtitles for them.
The subtitles are gramatically correct, but their synchro is average.
Sometimes they are ahead 1,5s other times 2,5 ...so simple one global time shift is not a solution
Till now I have been using Subtitle Workshop.
However I am lookin for software more advanced - one program which would allow to load video & subtitle, and you could manually set start and end point of each line of subtitles during playing movie.
this program could work in that way:
1) your movie is playing in internal window of this program
2) when you hear a narrator start speaking, you push internal button 'set start time for this line of subtitle' ; when he stops, you push internal button 'set stop time for this line of subtitle'
So this way, every line of subtitles could be perfectly synchronized with movie , instead of manually editing staring and ending points in Subtitle Workshop
Does anyone know this kind of application?
Thanks!

Subtitle Edit (get 3.2rc1) will do this (use adjust mode):
Ctr+space (or F9) = start start and offset the rest
Shift+space (or F10) = set end and go to next line
It will also help using the waveform.
See http://www.nikse.dk/SubtitleEdit/Help for more info + shortcuts
