Notice this not in every internet page, but in some: scrolling causes glitching in MP3 songs. What sites cause this?

  2. Probably poor integrated graphics performance.

I have an onboard HD4290, but am using HD6850 as the primary card.

Make sure the HD4290 is disabled in BIOS and remove or delete it's drivers. It might be causing interference. I would also uninstall and re-install the HD6850 drivers to the latest versions. If no improvement, you might try older HD6850 drivers. Or do the same process with your audio chip drivers.

How does that make sense? Is there any proof that onboard graphics causes this or are you just speculating?

Also, there are no drivers for HD4290 - what are you talking here? Never had an integrated AMD card before? There is only one option in BIOS either to boot from IGP or VGA. All the drivers are standart HD6850 Catalyst.

Still surprise that people dont list their system specs before asking these questions.

It's most likely a feature or used scripts within certain websites which causes the web browser to access more memory and it is this which causes the "mp3" or player of said mp3 to "glitch" ... when this happens watch the browser page loading and confirm the entire page has been downloaded before using the mouse scroll.

You might be able to alleviate the problem through the most common task > task manager > kill process (those which dont need to be running at system startup).

Yes, I am speculating in response to jababo's post.

Sure. I have a HD4290 on the PC in my computer details. I use ATI driver version 8.723.0.0 for my HD4290. No idea what the HD6850 uses.
And the options in my BIOS:

But, I agree that BJS's idea sounds more plausible.

  8. I've had similar problems with older Intel integrated graphics. Those had very poor performance and could hog up CPU resources at times, especially when scrolling pages in a web browser. The HD4290 and 6850 have much better performance so shouldn't have this problem.

If you have an old browser update to a newer one. In the last year or so most have started using the GPU for a lot of operations. That offloads a lot of work from the CPU. Or try using a different browser.
