  1. I have what I thought was a simple problem. I need to convert SVCD video (480x480) to DVD video (720x480). These are TV shows which I want to archive on DVD. Before you say go to 352x480 or 352x240, my DVD player will not play the 352x240 Mpegs, even though other DVD players will. I want to try the 720x480 before buying a new DVD player.

I have seen many people say use TMPGenc, but it doesn't work for these vidoes. (It does work for other, much lower quality videos). It crashes and burns on my Athlon XP system and cannot open the videos on my Intel Win2k systems.

I have found that Flask does the conversion and I cannot see any quality loss, so far I'm happy.

Now my problem. After the Flask conversion I have everything I want EXCEPT the bitrate is too high for the DVD authoring program (DVDit PE) I use to read it. It's set at ~13MB. I've tried patching it to 8MB with DVDPatcher 1.04 and Avestensione. Avestensione produces horrible interlacing issues. The videos produced by DVDPatch crash DVDit with unknown error -1.

How can I change the bitrate of the videos?

    AND/OR:

How do you convert 480x480 SVCD videos to 720x480 DVD compliant format?
