  1. hey all my first post and its an easy question. does anyone know how to check the frame droppage of a particular capture after its been recorded?? i use aiw (mmc 7.6) to record tv shoes in mpeg2 format then convert to divx since everytime i capture qith divx codec it drops frames. anyways, so after i do a recording and sometimes im not there to watch the recording going on and/or finish, so i have no idea if i dropped frames. the reason i want to know is that when i go to encode the mpeg2 recording and there has been frames dropped during the recording, hte divx output will be out of sync, which is very frustating as everyone knows. so i was just wondering is there a way to check the frame droppage after i have recorded. and if not is there an easy way to fix the sync problems.

Try PVAStrumento.exe. It checks MPEG-2 files and will even delete the parts where frames are missing. It will also align the video with the audio.

  3. I also want to check if any frames were dropped after capturing. But I capture uncompressed avi files (for home usage). Is there anything that will check an avi file for dropped frames?

If you use MMC the display will tell you if you are dropping frames. Yuno when you start recording and that small thin status bar window opens up and shows the length of the capture? Well if you drop frames there will be a message BESIDE it showing the percentage of dropped frames. It won't tell you exactly the number of frames, but it will say "<1% frames dropped" or it will have a number like "2% frames dropped" etc.

    Regards,

Under VIDEO in VirtualDub, does "Scan video stream for errors" do what you want on avi files?
