Streaming MP4 using VLC and ffmpeg on Linux?

Not sure if this forum is appropriate to answer this question, but didn't get any replies on VideoLAN.

I have a VLC command line like this:

cvlc v4l2:///dev/video0 :input-slave=alsa:// :v4l2-input=1  :v4l2-caching=300 --sout  '#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,acodec=mp3,vb=200,scale=1,deinterlace,fps=25,samplerate=44100,ab=32}:duplicate{dst=std{access=http,mux=ffmpeg{mux=mp4},dst=:1234/camera.mp4}}'  --no-sout-rtp-sap --no-sout-standard-sap --sout-keep

I am getting this error:

track 0: codec frame size is not set

I think it's saying that I need to include the frame size in the ffmpeg{} module, but I don't know what that would look like.

Anyone here have any experience with this?

It seems like a common problem if you use mp4 , see http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=88587 . No solutions.

I had seen that VideoLAN topic before, but it also received no replies. I'm not convinced no solution exists for streaming using MP4. How are people streaming to iPad and iPhone? That's what I want to do.
