  1. Hi Guys,

I'm currently capturing old VHS footage in PAL usign a loaned Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge in both AVI with DV codec and real-time MPEG2 using ULead DVD Workshop. The problem I have is that capturing is always heavily interlaced. This isn't a problem with AVI captures since I just deinterlace in VirtualDub before passing to TMPGEnc or whatever I'm encoding with, but the MPEG2 captures are still interlaced. Burning them to a DVDR produces the same output when run thru my Cyberhome DVD player - interlaced, and looking awful on the TV.

Question: Is there any way to capture via firewire without interlacing? Failing that, what's the best way to convert the real-time captured MPEG2 clips to non-interlaced without too much re-encoding and subsequent quality loss?

    TIA,
    Tachyon.

  3. Have you try using the de-interlace feature in TMPEenc ?

  4. Yes, I can deinterlace fine from video already captured, but thanks anyway. What I want is to know if it's possibe to remove interlacing on the fly as the capture happens, so I don't end up needing to re-encode footage which I captured to MPEG2 in realtime.
