  1. It's been almost a 2 years now that I can't get certain sites to stream content. I have to use Explorer to view these videos.

Youtube, Vimeo etc are not a problem. News sites like CBS, CNN etc will load the commercial but then it just stops. Most aggravating is Apple Trailers. It starts to do something then I get the big ? and now videos load. Explorer opens it, but it takes a while.

Anyone have any ideas. It's not firewall issue...it's gotta be something else. I just tried to view something at IGN (Video game review) and again I got the commercial but not the review.

Mostly I think (with ZERO evidence, so I could be wrong for sure) that it's some kind of Firefox bug. I've seen it. However, some websites are very badly designed and use IE extensions that other browsers don't support. With regards to Apple Trailers, Apple may deliberately make the site underperform for browsers other than Safari and IE, but I do not know that for a fact. It would not surprise me at all if that was true. You could always try Chrome with some of those problematic sites and see if does better than Firefox.

I have no issue with any of the sites you have mentioned, and I have been using Firefox as my primary browser for quite a few years now. The two formats I do avoid in Firefox are Real, which I despise because their player software is an abomination, and streaming asf/WMV because I find the plugin clunky.
