I am trying to convert large vid files I ripped from DVD some time ago but they really hog my HD space like some of them are 3 gigs. others are only 800 or so and I have been trying to convert them to 700 or less so I can burn them and free my HD up.
but say if i set like 600 bitrate. the output file will end up having some random bitrate and be like 200 mb and have horrible quality.
sometimes if i just increase the bitrate just a little the file will then just be a few gigs. and the actual output files true bit rate from viewing its details is never what I had set it to in the converter options.
I have some smaller 20-25 minute videos that i got from the internet that are around like 200-300 MB and used the converter to get it down to even like 90MB with such small loss in quality you have to squint pretty good to notice. and that works fine. even though it would be nice to set an exact output file size to fit the most information onto a 700mb disc.
I really am lost though with these larger dvd ripped ones though. I can never get the right file size/quality no matter how many different options I try. and I am not a industry pro or anything. Could anyone help? >.>![]()

How about try something else? Autogk for avi xvid/divx, Handbrake for mp4/mkv or Freemake Video Converter.
