  1. Hi guys,

I have a little bit of a strange problem with Adobe Encore.

I want to create a home DVD with menu that is playable in both DVD Player and pc with windows media player (this is most used in my country).

I did the project with this settings:
    DVD - Pal
    Transcode MPEG 2

and build it as an DVD Image with All Regions selected.

I mout that image in some image mouter and it opens up the dvd in Power DVD 11 (which is the default DVD player in my PC)...everything works fine in Power DVD.
But i try to open it in Windows Media Player and i get this error:
Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world.
You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region.
I tried then to change the settings ... i changed it form PAL (i am in Europe) to NTSC ...same thing: plays in Power DVD, get the error in Windows Media Player.

The strangest thing is that i have an older project, i build the disc image, mout in in Magic Disk and i am able to play it in WMP with no errors.

It drives me mad not knowing what did i do wrong....

By the way: i used in timeline mp4 videos, then wmv, and the result is the same...the DVD won`t play in Windows media player...
...and my OS is Windows 7 64 bits

I want this dvd to be playable in WMP because i intent to give the DVD to many of my friends, and i don`t want to tell each one of them to buy Power DVD or other dvd player.

I just hope someone will answer this thread, because if nobody will...i think i`ll break down the damn pc...

    Thank you

Have you tried it another computer with wmp? Wmp uses external decoders for dvds so it could just be something with your computer.

And it has nothing to do with pal or ntsc. Try google for encore region coding.

  3. Yes i tried it on a laptop that uses the same os (windows 7)...i got the same error. ..and the old DVD that i`ve made a month ago is working.

And it has nothing to do with pal or ntsc.
i thougt so myself...but i had to ask.

Try google for encore region coding.
i did that...i know that Europe is in region 2...but when i build the dvd image i chose "All Regions"...so i don`t know what am i doing wrong.

Is the strangest thing how the old DVD, made with the default settings is working just fine with WMP and any other dvd i make now gives me that error.

    Thanks anyway for your reply.

  4. Can you play it with VLC ? That's a free option instead of PowerDVD you can instruct your friends to use
