I need a simple program that would have these key features:

cut audio files where i want
make a single audio file out of many others by merging them
    change bitrate
    change frequency
    save as mp3, wav, wma

I have Corel VS Pro X3, and it can do anything with MP3, but it only saves as WAV, WMA, OGG, MP4 - i am dullfounded that it can not save to MP3... Perhaps do you know a packet that would instal MP3 support for it?

Of course i can save it to WAV PCM 44 kHz and then convert to MP3 with a free program called eRightSoftware SUPER - but that is a double job...

For just cutting and joining could you use mp3directcut. No reconversion.

A need a program with a simple interface. In audacity i can not find the function to merge audio tracks in a single row. A little help would be a appreciated or another more simple program... And mp3directcut does not play files for some reason, displays a bunch of errors - even if it did play files, i don't like the interface, it is even worse than in audacity...

You can just add them on their own tracks, but shift them along the timeline so they line up where you want them. Make sure you use the beta version, which gives you more freedom in this area. You can then export all the tracks to a single stereo output file.

MP3DirectCut can join any number of MP3 files (of the same spec).
Manually copy and paste; or use its File/Batch option. This is ideal as there is no conversion loss.

But if they're different specs, you'll have to convert them. So in that case use Audacity.
Simply copy and paste to join tracks.

MP3DirectCut has an extensive help file.
    Audacity has a wiki. http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Main_Page

Try reading them. You'd save yourself a lot of time.

I can't do this, it only allows me to switch tracks places "upside down". How to paste one track after another?

EDIT: looks like cut/paste worked, but not "with hand movement"...

And I said try reading the manuals. It seems you're just randomly trying things with the GUI.

"does not work" is not very helpful in trying to diagnose your problem.

These programs do actually work in most cases.

I am already using audacity and it is great - so many functions in a small size program, just have to learn them, the interface is not the most easy.

I linked the Audacity manual earlier.

Put "lame" in the search box and you'll get an exhaustive answer.

    http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/

I thought that i already had all the stuff coming with k-lite codecs pack, apparently not...

That's the page you would find in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/LAME_MP3
Which I linked here 5 days ago.

Codec packs give you codecs for playing, not creating, media.

From opinions and readings it looks like audacity is like a gold standard program for free audio editing...
