I was in a Best Buy store here in Vegas today. I went to buy some Verbatim DVD+R, and they didn't have any more spindles of 50. A salesperson said, "Memorex is just as good as Verbatim". I don't know. IS IT?? Or was this guy just trying his best to make a sale?

the following seems to be a good place ti buy media
I think we have to accept that with hard drive storage and streaming video round the house DVD is becoming a thing of the past though.

Verbatim "Life Series" dvds are mediocre. You can still get the AZO dye Verbatim disks, which are still pretty good. For example: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00081A2KE/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d1_g23_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPD...pf_rd_i=507846
Taiyo Yuden dvds are also still reliable, especially if you get the 8x variety: http://www.rima.com/prod/1736-100.html
And many have had good luck with the FTI Falcon dvds, though I haven't tried them myself. -
Verbatim "Life" media is what the majority of brick-and-mortar stores now sell and it isn't good quality. Vebatim AZO Media and Verbatim DataLife Plus are still good quality, but must be purchased online now, for the most part. I have been buying Verbatim AZO DVD-R from Newegg when they have a sale, and it has been fine so far. JVC/Taiyo Yuden is another favorite here, but it too must be purchased online.

Incorrect!!!
I respect Budz's opinion for the most part but that statement is not correct.
You just need to know what version to buy.

The "LIFE SERIES" most brick and mortar stores now sell is garbage, if you check the link and look at the photo you can see the difference in packaging, but i have been ordering from newegg and have always received the better Verbatims.
I am sure any respectable online media reseller will list and show the correct quality Verbatim media they have for sale.
You just need to watch the different online sellers, as i usually get the good Verbatim media on sale at newegg for anywhere between $17.99 & $20.99 for a 100 pack spindle.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817507003
Even at $27.00 for a 100 pack spindle you can't go wrong!!!
At .27 cents a disc, if that's too expensive for anyone then you need to find a different hobby......
LOL!!!
