  1. I have video files with a .VOB extension.
These play fine in the VLC viewer software, but are not recognized when attempting to import to the VLMC editor.

So .... am looking for advice on converting VOB to another format that is loadable in VLMC editor, or .....
Maybe another free (or inexpensive) video editor.

I'm not looking to do fancy edits ... just simple grab interesting pieces from several videos and string them together with background audio.

    Any thoughts ?

    Thanks in advance folks,
    Freddy Fredster

  3. Appreciate your response aedipuss.

Before seeing your post, I was able to find another easy-to-use converter.
Converted file to MPG2 easily, which allowed VLMC to import my video.

However, I now find that I'm such a newbie at video editing that I'm having trouble using the VLMC software.
I've spent several hours looking for Help, Tutorials, Demos, etc ... found a little but nothing comprehensive.
I can view the video in the editor .. just not sure how to cut, splice, overdub sound, etc

Can anyone point me to a good source for learning VLMC features ?
Or ... maybe point me to another (better documented) simple and inexpensive editor ?

    Thanks,
    F'ster

  4. Freddy if I was you I wouldn't convert the vobs, I would use an editor that can handle vobs directly. With DVDShrink can edit/cut/join DVD vobs & make a new DVD structure. Or you can use an mpeg editor like what aedipuss suggested. MPEGVideoWizard would do everything you want (but is not free). You can demux your finished edited sequence, replace the audio, then remux. What format do you want at the end of the day? Do you want a DVD?
