    DVD: LG DR389 (recording)
Tried it both with avi+srt and with dvd format where subtitles are embedded: after about 2 hours of playing, subtitles disappear. If I shut the DVD for an hour and replay the same media - subtitles reappear.
On my other DVD (pioneer 540S) it doesn't happen.
Questions: Is is a known phenomenon?
Can anything be done to prevent it?
    Thanks

Uhhh, how about keeping your player cool?

Is it setting in a closed enclosure? If so, try operating it out in the open (to test the cooling capabilities).

You might try vacuuming out the dust and crap from the player - also use compressed air to blow the dust out, if available.

    sorry for the delay
the DVD is always closed (but can be opened by the remote control), but it is placed under the cable decoder.
hence it gets heated and it is surely dusted like you said. I will clean it more often.
    Thanks

No, I mean is your DVD player placed inside of some furniture - like a TV stand. Does it get proper air flow ventilation? With the cable box on top, it is probably not getting the proper air flow.

Even with an installation like this, your unit shouldn't be overheating. Maybe you should be preparing for an eventual replacement of your player.

You might have to take the top cover off to effectively vacuum the accummulated dust.
