What do you used for a PCI xpress firewire card?

I bought a new PC for editing several months ago which does not have a firewire card.

Wanted a reliable, reasonably priced card.

Any reccomendations?

I still capture from mini dv tape.

You do not need a PCI-e card for firewire unless you don't have a free PCI slot, or have something that can use firewire 800, or need more than 3 ports. A PCI card will be enough and will cost less if none of the above applies to you.

I have a HP Pavilion Elite model HPE-510t PC.

The manufacturers product specs calls for a "1394 PCI Express x 1 expansion card."

What does the " x 1" mean?

Unfortunately I'm made to understand that I do not have one built in on my MOBO.

I bought a configuration to order system.

HP built this machine cheap and ports are scarce.

Only had a couple built in.
