    Depends on your machine and source.

    Speed of encoding is in fps.
    I get about 18 fps usually, but can be much slower if the script is complex or the source is very high res.

    I do 2-passes with HCEnc, so that doubles the time.

    So one hour, two passes, takes me about 3 hours.

    A new PC would probably be at least twice as fast.

    Audio encoding via Aften takes only a minute or two.

    Yes, it depends on the speed of your computer, what software you're using, what settings you are using, the properties of the source, and any filtering you may be doing.

    With my Core i5 2500K, encoding standard definition video with HcGUI at its "best" setting, no filtering, 2-pass encoding, it takes about 11 minutes to encode an hour of video. TMPGEnc Plus with motion search precision set at "Normal" takes about 16 minutes.
