Hello,
i'm new here and thought I could make a topic about vegas render settings. i'm having problems finding a good workflow that actually does what i want it to do. first of all, every codec i tried ends up getting video/audio desync after i uploaded it on youtube. in the past few days i have read and watched countless sites and tutorials but haven't come close to finally achieving something. i tried: xvid/wav, xvid/mp3 with virtualdub, sonyavc/h264/aac, x264/aac with debugmode/x264/neroaac/megui, wmv/wma. typically, the sound would get delayed for about 50 or so ms, for wmv it was significantly more. but not only that: when encoding with x264, i also get desync when playing the actual file in a media player (zoom player or vlc), in that case the audio is a bit early (but still ends up being delayed after upload to youtube. the second thing is the RGB color space problem, as far as i understand, for certain codecs you need to convert computer RGB to studio RGB so that the colors stay as they were intended after you upload to youtube. this seems to be the case only for certain codecs though. so my goal is to find a codec and workflow that will allow me to render ONE file that looks and sounds as it was intended when i play it with a media player AND that looks and sounds as intended after upload to youtube. because if i can't find such a codec, i'll end up having to make one encode for my personal backup (so that the video files can be watched outside youtube) and one encode with modified rgb levels and desynced audio for upload to youtube. and that would effectively double my time. does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for this? thanks for your time.

To keep the same color space , be careful while using Avisynth, or MeGui, RipBot264 encoders and such that use it. Avisynth command
ConvertToYV12()
changes 0-255 to 16-235, therefore colors are going to be washed out, you need to use
ConvertToYV12(matrix="PC.709")
to keep full range or
ConvertToYV12(interlaced=true, matrix="PC.709")
if your video is interlace and you use this command before you deinterlace
It took me a while to figure it out what part in this chain cause it:

hello,
thanks for your replies. so, first of all, the source files vary from different camcorders, and i always delete the audio stream of the camcorder file and replace it with files from a microphone, then sync them up perfectly in vegas. if i encode that with avc within vegas (either sony avc or mainconcept avc), the files stay synced up when i play the file in a media player, but get desynced after upload to youtube. If i encode with x264 using megui, the file is desynced in a media player already, and then ends up being desynced into the other direction after upload to youtube. very weird.
here is the mediainfo for one of the encoded files that i did with vegas/mainconcept avc (two pass)

never mind the high audio bitrate, the desync happens with lower rates as well.
about the color space problem, i am following this tutorial that i found the other day:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWMX5lSvEgY
at 4:30 he explains the color space problem. when using megui, i use this line in the avisynth script:
ConvertToYV12(interlaced=false, matrix="PC.709")
ColorYUV(levels="PC->TV")
the rendered file looks washed out, but then looks perfect after uploading to youtube. my question is though if it is possible to produce a file that will look perfect both in a media player AND after upload to youtube.
thanks for your time. -
the captured file mediainfo from your camera(s) - not your problem re-encoded file

whoops i am sorry. i still don't see how that would affect anything, especially since the desync happens with several files from several cameras. but ok, here is one:
