I have Win 7 with IE 8. I noticed I cannot use in private browsing. The option is not highlighted under "tools" anymore. When I open a new tab, there used to be an option to click it on the right side. Not available anymore.

yes, In private is blocked out there too......
Was literally working yesterday but not anymore. -
"porn" mode doesn't really work anyway, your tracks are still traceable. you might upgrade to ie9 and try that.

Not if you use IEHV:

jyeh74,
It could be malware or software that was installed, have you run a scan with SAS or Malwarebytes?

Nope, tried ie9 and same thing.
I'm trying to go back to IE 8 but didnt see anything on the windows website for windows 7. They only have vista or xp for IE 8.

I cannot find IE 8 for Windows 7.......... -
That's a good guess. Six months ago, I was stupid enough
to use Seamonkey without the no-Script add-on. I managed to remove the malware manually, however IE8 cannot open tabs anymore
Yes, I still am too lazy to re-install Windows and start using Puppy Linux

jyeh74,
IE8 is embedded in 7 but here's instructions how to uninstall. to re-install reverse the process:

You might try Reset first in Internet Options/Advanced. -
I tried running Malewarebytes and SuperAntispyware but nothing.
Has anyone else noticed the "inprivate" browsing under Tools and Safety been turn off (not highlighted)? Also when you open a tab, it is not there anymore? This is strange. -
I might notice it if I used IE, but honestly, why would I ? Firefox and Chrome are far better options, and both have private browsing options (that work as well as a history eraser does).
It can be disabled through the registry : http://channel9.msdn.com/Blogs/coolstuff/How-to-Disable-InPrivate-Mode-in-IE8
Reversing this might get it back for you.
It can also be disabled through local policies.Last edited by guns1inger; 31st Aug 2011 at 02:36.
