  1. Hello,

I'm trying to combine some old quicktime files into one big file.
    Suffix: .QT.

For one file, Media Info shows :

    Video
    ID : 1
    Format : Cinepack
    Codec ID : cvid
    Duration : 34s 900ms
    Bit rate mode : Variable
    Bit rate : 476 Kbps
    Width : 160 pixels
    Height : 120 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 4:3
    Frame rate mode : Constant
    Frame rate : 10.000 fps
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 2.480
    Stream size : 1.98 MiB (84%)
    Language : English
    Encoded date : UTC 1996-09-28 15:31:25
    Tagged date : UTC 1996-09-28 15:31:25

    Audio
    ID : 0
    Format : PCM
    Format settings, Endianness : Little
    Format settings, Sign : Unsigned
    Codec ID : raw
    Duration : 34s 900ms
    Bit rate mode : Constant
    Bit rate : 88.2 Kbps
    Channel(s) : 1 channel
    Sampling rate : 11.025 KHz
    Bit depth : 8 bits
    Stream size : 376 KiB (16%)
    Language : English

    Tagged date : UTC 1996-09-28 15:31:25

MPEG_Slipclip will complain about the format.
File Open Error: Unsupported File Type

    VirtualDub gives a similar error:
    Unknown or unsupported file type.

AOA Video Joiner does not work.
It goes through the motions of combining, says that it made a file.
But after finishing, the new file, and the temp directory are gone.

It also is using mal ware: XVC.exe.
I blocked the XVC.exe program with Zone Alarm.
When I started AOA, I got a message that XVC was blocked.
    The swine.

What is a free software that can combine these files?

I don't want any change in formats, bitrate, etc.
    Just string them together.
Nor, to have to become an expert in video editing.

    Thanks a lot!

if all the clips have the same video and audio characteristics:

1- open the 1st video file with avidemux
2- press FILE---> APPEND to add each video
3-set VIDEO and AUDIO to COPY
    4- set FORMAT to MP4
    5- press FILE----> SAVE VIDEO
I love it when a plan comes together!

And don't forget to add '.MP4' to your chosen file name when you save the file (stupid AVIDeMux quirk).

Are the files you want to combine '.MOV' files?
Edit: never mind -- I just saw you said they were '.QT'.

  5. Avidemux worked but I had to save it in AVI format.

When I saved in MP4, I kept getting an error about the wrong format.

    Thanks!

  6. the error probably showed since your audio and video formats are not allowed by mp4 container specification,.. btw. shouldn't quicktime be able to merge such files,.. ?
