Does anyone have like hundreds of movies ripped to external hard drive?
Looking for something so when i go on vacation, i can take and connect to friends'
Media Server and have all my movies....

Yes, you may rip your DVDs to an external HD and, assuming you have the appropriate player on the other end (your friend's Media Server for example), it should plug right in and be available for play.
I use a WDTV player and this is how I do it. -
the trick would really be to have your library sitting at home on your lan and have a good enough network connection so that you could stream your movies over the internet .... perfectly doable iif the connection is stable enough and the bitrate is not too high.
HINT uncompressed blu rays may not work!Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.

There was some goof here that had all his movies on internal HDDs for some reason...
