Well, i downloaded the trial version because movie factory just couldn't function with a big file (over and hour).
It was a little confusing at first, but I have to say that I called tech support three times and they were quick to answer and actually gave me the answers I need.
I pulled in the file I captured and edited with dazzle. It was a combination of 16 small clips that ended up being about 1 hour and 20 minutes worth.
I then created my chapter points, once I figured this out, it was very easty. then i created the menu. Now this was nice. I was able to alter existing menus all i wanted.
I added some background music and even added motion menus (not real sure what this is or if it worked).
So, now that I had everything just like i wanted it I started to burn the DVD. Unlike movie factory which just burns directly, workshop asks you what template you want to burn with. It tells you that at 8000K (which is the dazzle DVD standard template) it will burn only 60 minutes so you have to choose a lower level bitrate to get all the file on there. This concerns me a bit. Can anyone tell me if this sounds right??
because it was my first attempt I choose to burn the folder and image file (this took a very long time). When it was finally ready to burn the DVD, it tells me the disk doesn't have enough room.
That is when I notice that the size of the file was 5.6 gigs!!!! I pull the same file into movie factory and it is 2.6.
So if anyone can give me some help figuring this out I would really appreciate it. I am so very close to actually getting a DVD created (although I have yet to see if there are ny sync issues.)
thanks.

DVD Workshop will convert exsisiting mpeg2 files into the DVD file structure without trasncoding, as it will merely demux and then mux the mpeg2 file( s ).. My problem with Ulead is the audio sych problem I had with it ( both in DVD Workshop and DVD Movie Factory). My mpegs were prepared under TMPEnc and not under DVD Workshop, and are 2 hours plus in length. At first when I ran DVD Workshop after all the menu creation I thought it would also transcoded my mpeg2 file, but it did not, as I never burned it, but merely had the folders dirs made and then burned under Nero.

So are you creating your file (mpeg clip and menus) and then burning with Nero??

yes mpegs are made in TMPEnc, all menus are made in DVD Movie Factory or SpruceUp ( though both will do the burn as well ).
