problems with dvd recorder

I have a problem with my philips dvd recorder, its a 3480 model.

It says it's recording, but nothing appears when i go to the disc menu when i have finished recording. Help!

Does the Philips play retail DVDs or recorded discs that you previously made?
If not, maybe the laser is dying.
If yes, what type of disc are you trying to record to... +R, -R, +RW, -RW, DVD-RAM?
What brand? Maybe the discs are a bad batch? Try a different brand.
